Ho Hey

I reached the conclusion today that the song, Ho Hey, by The Lumineers is the greatest test of whether one has rhythm.  Try it.  If you can yell “Ho” and “Hey” at the exact moment they do in the song, then there is hope for you.  And if you can’t…well, sorry friend.  Get in line behind Navin (Steve Martin in The Jerk), Elaine (Seinfeld), and my girls.  Every time it comes on in the car, I have to point at them so that they get it right otherwise we have “Ho’s” and Hey’s” all over the place.  So I guess we know where they get their rhythm from.  (Hint:  It’s not me.)

Also, I think Pitbull’s song, Pause, is an adult, musical version of the game “Simon Says”.   I’d try it with the girls but for the line, “My teeth will unsnap your bra.”  That one’s the deal breaker.

And while I’m on Pitbull – not in the physical sense, of course – did you know he is teaching me Spanish?  Yes, he is.  With the help of Google translate, of course. I mean you can only listen to his music for so long without looking up what in the hell he is saying.  I mean singing.  No, rapping.  Oh, hell.  Whatever it is that he is doing.

I know you’re wondering what someone like me is doing listening to Pitbull, but I just think you have to keep up with what is current and what the girls are listening to.  Plus, have you ever seen him perform?  That sucker’s got some moves that would make even the  numbest of suburban housewives come alive.  I saw him open for Enrique Iglesias a couple of years ago and have been a fan ever since.  Besides, everything he comes out with makes me want to get up and dance like a crazy person.  Or, at least, tap my toe.  I tried whistling at the office today, but that’s probably not a good idea to do in a law office.  Even on a Friday.

I try really hard to keep up with what the kids are listening to these days.  Like Philip Phillips and Hunter Hayes, two of my personal faves.  I like them as much for their musical talent as for the alliteration.  Actually, I liked Hunter Hayes a lot more after I saw a picture of him.  Hello?!  H-O-T.  But who am I kidding?  Taylor Swift’ll snatch him up in no time at all.

Don’t get me started on Taylor.  I’m so over her and we are NEVER, EVER, EVER getting back together.  Like, ever!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Love, Carmen

  1. I was with you at that concert and I thought you and M were going to loose it! I was ready to pull you out of the line of 20 somethings! Carmen and Pitbull sitting in a tree……

    • Jewels! It was a fun time wasn’t it?! And I don’t recall having had anything to drink! I so wasn’t expecting that reaction to his music/show but when you feel it, you just gotta give in to it, right?
